Thanks a lot! Let me return the favor by saying that if there were more commenters like you the world would be a better place:)

That is VERY exciting to hear. The next 6 months sound exciting! It's clearly going to be an outstanding choice for a desktop OS.

Keep up the great work! You guys are doing an awesome job!

Wow, I'm impressed with the authors thoroughness writing this review. Most reviews show that an author spend 30 minutes playing around, then wrote some text without actually exploring the system fully. You have taken the time to discover the BeOS R5 sample code, to actually compile a "Hello World" application, and to discover where additional software could be found. Well done. If only we had more reviewers like you, the world would be a better place.

Having said all that, the Haiku underground developers back channels is showing some very interesting signs lately. There will be some more big announcements during the next 6 months, with a lot of new software, new ports and new drivers due to come out during this period. An excellent public example is the Qt port. A native webkit Haiku browser will be released in April. Nouveau and RadeonHD 3D drivers will be announced in April. The KOffice port will be polished by then. And there are a few more suprises before the next Alpha2 (beta will mean the OS is feature complete).
