Home-Brewing a Full-Text Search in Google's AppEngine Comments http://www.chrisumbel.com/article/appengine_fulltext_nltk#comments Home-Brewing a Full-Text Search in Google's AppEngine Sun, 05 Feb 2012 02:41:48 GMT Comment by Goran on Fri Feb 05 2010 17:02:42 GMT+0000 (UTC) Interesting. I tried a similar approach but was not impressed with the cpu overhead. A friend of mine decided to skip the question entirely and used the Google Base Gdata api to implement a "full-text" search: http://blog.anekdotz.com/2010/01/efficient-full-text-search-mashup-with.html I think appengine will be of limited interest until Google comes up with a solution for this. http://www.chrisumbel.com/article/appengine_fulltext_nltk#comments_4c4b2ecf945313180400003b http://www.chrisumbel.com/article/appengine_fulltext_nltk#comments_4c4b2ecf945313180400003b Fri, 05 Feb 2010 17:02:42 GMT Comment by chrisumbel on Wed Feb 10 2010 16:02:45 GMT+0000 (UTC) Hah! Using GBase, that's neat! Desperate as heck, but neat;) I agree with your point 100% though. Both my home brew method and perhaps more so the Google Base mashup make it obvious that there's a serious deficiency with AppEngine. SearchableModel needs beefed up or a different solution has to be put in place otherwise AppEngine will remain in the margins. http://www.chrisumbel.com/article/appengine_fulltext_nltk#comments_4c4b2ecf945313180400003c http://www.chrisumbel.com/article/appengine_fulltext_nltk#comments_4c4b2ecf945313180400003c Wed, 10 Feb 2010 16:02:45 GMT
